If the hair has some slightly raised cuticle it means that the person use hairdryer often. The hair will appear rough and dull. The rough ends can be visible under high power microscopes.
Hair expert advised that when drying that hair, hair dryer must be distanced from the hair and the heat temperature must be low.

For cases like extreme rising of hair cuticle, the main cause of this damage is severe perming chemical. When you view this damage under high power microscope, you will see that the hair is extremely raised and the hair looks limp and lifeless.
It is advised by hair expert that before you perm your hair, you test the hair if it can manage strong chemical and if it’s in good condition. And the best advice is that ask for professional’s help in handling hair care products to avoid damage.

The most severe hair damage are stripped cuticle and shattered hair shaft, these cases really need treatment. If hair is severely damaged, the cortex layer will appear when viewed under high power microscopes.

The very common hair problem most people experience, especially the women is the split end. Split ends can be caused by a lot of things we normally do on our hair, for example excessive brushing, coloring, perming, blow drying and tight hair pony tails.
Split ends can be seen with our naked eye; however, you will see details of the split ends under high power microscopes.  There is only one simple cure for split ends, simply cut the ends of your hair to remove it.
Knotted hair is also a big problem after shower, and when our hair is knotted we tend to comb it with force causing breakage and damage. If seen under high power microscopes, we can see a big ball of knotted thread. To prevent this from happening it is advised to use hair conditioner after shampooing.
